![]() For reference, a typical 1400mm artillery blast usually alphas battlecruiser rats (assuming about 10000 alpha damage with the correct ammo type) but you need a dread to alpha battleship NPCs, i.e. Don't get me wrong: Artillery DOES work, but you have to find out for yourself if it's what you do. Oh but you go outside your optimal range, now you're working in falloff, which is a big deal for artillery to NOT be in falloff because then you lose out on that precious alpha damage. But not too close, because then you may not track it. The counter to this is to split your guns, which requires more management: 7 guns on this guy, or 3 on this and 4 on this? You also have to find an optimal range to work at, which starts at around 30km. You also have to worry about overkill: if you alpha a cruiser, then you are wasting a certain amount of damage and are effectively loosing on effective DPS. The problem with artillery is if you miss, you wait another 16 seconds (with all V skills) to be able to fire again. From there you decide if you want artillery or autocannons. Starting with tank, go Armor if you're exclusively going after Blood Raider / Sansha ships, otherwise go shield. ![]() Finally there's the argument about artillery or autocannons. Then there's another argument about whether you should go armor or shield. Then there's another debate on whether you should use a XL shield booster or L sized. The whole debate about prop mods on battleships for PvE L4s has been going on ever since MWDs got added to the game. With Minmatar Battleship IV it has fairly good projection out to about 45km, which is plenty. In fact, it's one of the best platforms FOR AutoCannons. Well gauging off current feedback already here in the post this probably won't be received very well.ĪutoCannons work on the Machariel. So how does this build work? And is there a better way to fit a Machariel for PvE missions? It all seems godawfully inefficient though, especially for a ship that costs 1.6B ISK. I suppose it could slowboat and get shot at while running the shield booster, and if it gets to be too much, shut off the shield booster and then MWD away, then shut off the MWD and wait for the shield booster to fix the shield. At 40km, it will be shot and hit - particularly since it will probably be kiting away from the targets in a straight line (so as not to mess with the autocannon's tracking). At the same time, it uses an MWD and it has enough cap for 1 minute and 48 seconds. It uses autocannons, so it works at the distances of 40km or so, give or take, which is pretty close. Īmount of bling aside, I can't see how this fit would work. I think I got it off the Level 4 Mission Fits channel in the game. I've had this fit saved for a while but never looked at it in detail. So I'm starting to budget and look at fits for when I can actually fly one. I'm slowly inching towards being able to competently fly a Machariel, for no reason other than to fly a Machariel - I like the ship and want to own one.
